North West Georgia Living Magazine

The Challenge

NW Georgia Living is a bimonthly lifestyle magazine targeting women in a three-county area of Northwest Georgia. As a free magazine supported by ad sales, the design had to balance two key needs:

  1. Create an engaging editorial experience that readers could easily flip through and enjoy.

  2. Allow advertisers to shine so that ads felt integrated, appealing, and worth stopping for—not something to skip past.

When publisher Laura Wood first partnered with Veridian Design Group, her goal was to bring a cohesive brand identity to the magazine. Prior to that, the layout lacked consistency—different departments didn’t align stylistically, and typography wasn’t standardized.

Our Approach

Working with Laura, Andi led a full brand and publication re-design:

  • Established true brand standards for typography, colors, and paragraph styles, ensuring legibility and consistency throughout every issue.

  • Created cohesive departmental design systems that gave each section of the magazine its own identity while staying true to the overarching brand.

  • Balanced feature article design to stand out without overshadowing the magazine’s readability.

  • Designed layouts that elevated ad visibility while maintaining a clean, inviting editorial flow.

The result was a professionalized magazine that not only resonated with its demographic but also gave advertisers greater confidence in aligning with the publication.

Results

  • Following the rebrand, NW Georgia Living won five MAG Awards for excellence in magazine publishing.

  • The magazine saw increased advertiser satisfaction and reader engagement, thanks to layouts that were visually appealing and easy to navigate.

  • Over time, as the magazine grew in size and scope, we led a second rebrand to reflect a more modern aesthetic with larger features and expanded departments.

Lasting Partnership

For over 16 years, Laura Wood and NW Georgia Living have trusted Veridian Design Group as their design partner. For the past 9+ years, I’ve personally been part of the design team, ensuring every issue is polished, reader-friendly, and advertiser-aligned. Together, we’ve not only created award-winning design but also built a trusted collaboration that continues to evolve as the magazine grows.
