About MacKenzie
Hi, I am Mackenzie Allanson, senior graphic designer, publication strategist, and soon-to-be steward of Veridian Design Group!
For the past nine years, I have had the privilege of helping mission-driven organizations communicate their impact through beautiful, purposeful design. I believe design is not just decoration. It is a bridge between your mission and your audience. The right visuals build trust, spark emotion, and turn passive readers into loyal supporters.
My specialty is long-form, editorial-driven design including annual reports, magazines, newsletters, and exhibit catalogs. These projects require clarity, storytelling, and polish. I guide them from strategy through press check, making sure every detail supports your larger goal: connecting with your community and inspiring action.
When I am not designing, you will usually find me tending my garden, painting in my greenhouse studio, or gathering inspiration from nature. To me, design is about nurturing both beauty and purpose and I bring that same philosophy into every project.
And if you're wondering how I do it all with a smile on my face, it's because I genuinely love what I do (and maybe because I drink a lot of coffee, too).
About Veridian Design Group
Veridian Design Group is more than a studio. It is a legacy. For over 30 years, we have partnered with nonprofits, associations, universities, museums, and community-focused organizations to tell their stories with clarity and care.
We are intentionally small: just two experienced designers, myself and founder Andi Counts, who believe the best work comes from close collaboration. That means no layers of account managers, no handoffs to interns, and no wasted time or budget. Just honest, strategic design built around your mission.
Our philosophy is simple. Great design does not need to shout to be powerful. It needs to be rooted in purpose, executed with precision, and delivered with heart.
About Andi Counts
Veridian’s founder, president, and my mentor, Andi Counts, has led the studio with vision and integrity for more than three decades. With a background that spans publishing, corporate creative services, and boutique agency work, Andi built Veridian into a trusted design partner for organizations across the Southeast and beyond.
Andi has always infused Veridian with both wisdom and warmth, qualities that have shaped my own career. She continues to inspire me and our clients with her creativity, resilience, and passion for design. Outside the studio, Andi can often be found continuously restoring her historic home, spending time at Lake Lanier, or pursuing her love of colored pencils.
A Legacy of Women in Design
As Andi prepares for retirement in the coming years, she is training me to lead Veridian into its next chapter. It is a privilege to continue the legacy of a woman-founded, woman-led business that has thrived for more than 30 years. That legacy is rare in our industry, and it is one I am deeply committed to preserving. We will continue helping organizations flourish, inspire their communities, and make a difference through design.
